good people, good times, good tunes.
i'm trying to like my life a little more each day.
you can only be you.
Nine hundred pounds of Butterfingers were delivered to Copley Square in Boston by online pawn shop company Pawngo. It’s a reference to New England Patriots receiver Wes Welker, who dropped a crucial pass in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. The Butterfingers even came with their own sign: “Thank you, Wes Welker”
Is this kind of funny? Sure. But I honestly think it’s actually pretty fucked up. Welker may have dropped the ball, but there’s more than one play in a game, and it wasn’t the best throw either - too far, too high, over the wrong shoulder. There are 100+ what if’s that could have changed the game. At the end of the day, guess what? It’s a team sport. Win together, lose together.
*(The company, Pawngo also issued an apology, which was the right thing to do.)
Nothing broke my heart more than the aftermath of the game - Hearing Welker’s post game interview, fighting tears and saying that he let the team down. It is not solely his fault and he did not let the team down.
It was also unfortunate seeing very passionate patriots fans turn their backs on their players and bash them via facebook/twitter. What kind of sportsmanship is that? Yes we are all sad, hurt and disappointed, but I would have liked to think that Boston, New England and Patriots fans alike would had have more class and integrity than that.
